RWI Racing, Inc. Press Release

DOVER, Del. (September 23, 2006) – Jamie McMurray and the No. 64 Top-Flite team came to Dover on a mission to have a solid top-five day and gain valuable positions in owner point standings – mission accomplished. McMurray qualified 15th for Saturday’s Dover 200, spent 183 laps in the top-15, led 52 laps of the race, finished fourth and boosted team owner, Rusty Wallace into 14th in the NASCAR Busch Series owner point standings.

The race was stalled 13 times for cautions, despite the delays, crew chief Bryant Frazier only called McMurray to pit road twice during competition, each time for tires, fuel and minor adjustments to tweak handling issues. The No. 64’s first stop, around lap 36 was a bit out of sequence, as McMurray was the only top-10 driver to pit.

When green flag racing commenced on lap 40 the Top-Flite Dodge was running 20th, however in only 20 laps McMurray had captured the lead, where he stayed for 52 laps. As things were looking good for the No. 64, McMurray reported tight handling conditions.

Frazier called McMurray back to pit road near lap 117, where the Top-Flite crew quickly worked to remedy the tight handling car. The field went green with 75 laps remaining in the race and McMurray was running second, extremely pleased with his car, especially on longer runs. Longer runs however were not possible as five cautions fell before the race’s conclusion, preventing McMurray from recapturing the lead – he crossed the finish line in fourth-place.

Before an estimated crowd of 40,000, Clint Bowyer won the Dover 200 posting his third NASCAR Busch Series victory. Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Jamie McMurray and Jason Lefler followed to complete the top-five.

The NASCAR Busch Series will head to Kansas next weekend for the running of the Yellow Transportation 300 at the Kansas Speedway. Steve Wallace will be back behind the wheel of RWI Racing’s No. 64 Jackson Roscoe Foundation Dodge Charger.

RWI Racing Quotes

Driver, Jamie McMurray… “My car got way too tight there at the end – I never thought it would tighten up that much. We were really good on longer runs, but all of the restarts there at the end wouldn’t allow for that. The Top-Flite car was awesome today and I’m pleased with our finish.”

Crew Chief, Bryant Frazier… “I’m pleased with our finish today. I’d rather have a win, but can’t complain with a top-five. Jamie did a great job on the track, our guys were awesome in the pits and we were able to gain some points today. All in all it was a great day for the Top-Flite team.”
