Langley, BC, Canada – Shane Harding and the ShaneCity Racing Team
sent the 2006 Evergreen Speedway Super Stock season out in style
this past Saturday night by capturing his ninth win on the year.
Harding, the 2005 Champion, repeated as the 2006 Champion even
though he missed one event while campaigning his NASCAR AutoZone
Elite Division car in the North West Series.
“It was a very long year in a lot of ways,” commented Harding. “Our
team had a lot of highs with the wins at Evergreen and we qualified
and ran well at times on the tour. All in all, it was a terrific
year.”
The Bob Keam led crew prepared both of the Ed’s Transmission,
Harding Forklift cars for the total of 20 races that they competed
in during the 2006 season.
It will be a busy off-season for the 30 year old Harding as he plans
to marry his fiancé Shae Stephens November 25th.
Preliminary plans for the 2007 season include returning to Evergreen
Speedway in their crate-motored program to defend his back to back
titles. “With the future of racing in the North West up in the air
we plan to head back to Monroe to perhaps tie my dad’s record from
Skagit.” Shane’s dad, Pete, won three consecutive titles at Skagit
Speedway, dubbed the 3-Pete, while capturing 28 victories. “I think
that is a pretty cool mark that my Dad set and it would mean a lot
to me personally to tie the championships, and maybe even win a few
more!”
