POST FALLS, Idaho -- All that mattered for driver Jeff Jefferson was the last lap during Sunday afternoon’s NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 200 at Stateline Speedway in Post Falls. Jefferson, of Naches, WA, started on the pole after the invert and led all 200-laps of the event fending of Hayden, ID’s Darren Rupinski for the Northwest short track bragging rights at the finish line.

Jefferson nearly lost the lead in the second half of the race on restart to Kevin Richards. Richards nudged Jefferson to the side but could not find enough room to squeeze though. Rupinski tried to chase down the NASCAR Elite series driver but ran out of laps as Richards dropped behind for a 10-lap dash to the checkers after a caution.

Richards salvaged a disastrous weekend, after crashing in Friday’s race, to finish third. Defending Idaho 200 champion Rick Schultz took fourth with East Wenatchee’s Garrett Evans rounding out the top five.

The 200-lap race saw five cautions throughout the two 100-lap segments. An early caution involving hard contact between Jay Sauls and Dan Yonke sent Sauls home early and Yonke packing with body damage.

Other cautions flew for Canada’s Darrell Midgley colliding with the back stretch wall. Brandon Riehl's spin after spoiler damage with a slower car, and Mark Sundberg’s spin with 10-laps to go halted the field and bunched the leader in striking distance.

After winning the feature at South Sound Speedway Saturday night, Cosmopolis’ Tom Sweatman, the 2000 race winner, rallied to a sixth place standing. Andy Brown, who ran in all three nights of competition along with Rick Schultz, pulled out a lead lap seventh place finish.

Riehl and Dave Garber sorted out their positions numerous times with Riehl gaining the better. The contact between the two as they race for positions sent both scooting up and down the track as Riehl and Garber leaned on each other for room. Lewiston, Idaho driver Kameron McKeehan took home tenth.
